Mini Car Kits

I've been addicted to gift tins from Michael's craft store since I read about them in a craft article Aby Garvey. wrote for Organize Magazine. They cost a dollar, come in attractive patterns and colors, and are a perfect fit for drawers, purses and glove compartments. They're especially well-suited to car organization-to keep small must-haves contained and on hand. As an added bonus, your car compartments will look pretty too.

Here is how:
- Purchase three or four tins. They are widely available, but Michael's are large enough to store more than a gift card.
- Decide where to house them. I keep mine in the center console of my minivan, so they're within easy reach.
- Designate a category for each tin and fill it accordingly. For example, keep spare change (I like to have a few dollars in my care for emergencies) and car wash coupons together; put together a small first aid kit with bandaids, antibacterial ointment and medicine pouches; create a personal supplies packet that includes lip balm, a nail file and gum.
- Label the sides or the top of the tins (depending on how they sit in your glove compartment) so you can easily see what is in each one.
